I just got my first pendulum today at the wicca store near me. I am interested in using it for dousing...I mostly read with cards but I thought this might be good for more yes/no type questions.
I was wondering if it's necessary to do any protective meditations before working with the pendulum? I normally don't worry much about protection since I call in the angels but I heard Oujia boards can draw lower, mischievous spirits. Are pendulums also a draw for those beings?

Not to my knowledge. I have been using a pendulum for years, and have not had any bad experiences. I think mostly you need to give the pendulum time to adjust to your energy because it will read your energy field. I usually send mine Reiki to do this. Pendulums are pretty good at protecting you themselves. If you are not supposed to know, or stepping over a boundary, it won't answer you. Congrats on the new pendulum! What does it look like?

I agree with Kristi, the only thing I really do, is I will cleanse the stone. But after cleasing, I program for the use and I usually carry it around with me somewhere (if there is room) like there isn't and let it absorb my energy for hours. Before I do an work with it, I do ask for the greatest good and the white light to be with me and always perform Reiki. If I hadn't used it in a couple weeks, I will redo the programing and carry it around with me again. I always ask it wants to answer questions...I do respect the answers. I have even ask it which bag it wants to be in...I have 3. I totally respect and value my pendulum. My pendulum happens to be a merkabah and it's shape in itself is a protective shape.
The first thing when I first got it, I did ask how it answers no and yes and maybe....
Ok...I may have answered you question in there somewhere...

I love mine...it give me so much warm feeling when I use it. I have 2 others and this is my favorite. Mine is a carnelian...what's yours.

Thanks, Ladies! It's rose quartz, sort of a pyramid shape I'll let you know how it goes. I think I'll sleep with it under my pillow tonight to let it tune into my vibes...I did this with some of my card decks before. |

Great idea Christine and great advice from Saffy and Kristi. I pretty much do the same with mine, hold it and send reiki to it asking for the highest good, and let it get used to my vibes. Then ask it if it will answer questions for me, it usually does. I hope you have fun with it Christine. Let us know your experience with it.

I have a beautiful one that is a rose quartz an amethyst and it is mad at me.. since I got the merkabah...I'll have to make up.
I also have a rod. It is not a L rod just a one hand metal with a rose quartz sphere at the end. The day I got it, it worked and told me it wanted to come home with me and since then, I am getting nothing.

I need to connect with my pendulums more I think.... I just picked it up thinking it should /would work and didnt get much from it so I just let it be... One of them is a cool fairy pendulum that came with a book and a bunch of boards... I did the same thing with it played with it a little and let it be, and there it sits on my bookshelf...
The cool thing about that one is it is made out of metal and has holes in the design and you can put something in it... I did put something in it but I forget what now (some kind of stone)! Maybe I should get it and try working with it more,,, and connecting with it more... Thanks for the inspiration girls!

dang, how the heck did i miss this?? well, no, sweets, it doesn't attract negative spirits or energy. i've found that you just 'program' it to tell you the truth. you can sit with it in your hand to connect with it and set your intent in it. it's actually that simple. i have four of them(rose quartz, clear quartz, smokey quartz and ametrine) and they all have a different vibe. when i feel i need one more than another, i will use it. i guess they all call differently and some are ready to work more. just attune yourself to it and set it for truth and it should do fine, with practice.

Im gonna try working with my fairy pendulum more,,, I have a clear quartz one also, but I dunno I feel like trying again with the fairy pendulum.... have you heard of that one Miss Fae?

It's actually a pendulum called the Truth Fairy. It comes with boards and a book... Its cool cause it opens up and you can put whatever stone in it, or whatever you like... I got mine out and put it around my neck today,,, I figured since we were talking pendulums I would try using that one... The pendulum itself is made of some kind of metal but its on a cord that has a clasp like a necklace would so thats where I thought putting it on my neck would help,,, at least I have played with it a few times today,,, still getting used to and I love the little smokey quartz I put in it I will take a pic soon and show ya! |
