Does anyone here do Reiki on animals....in a professional capacity? I am interested in learning more on the subject. Does anyone have any resources I could check out? Thanks!

I only have a few animal clients per year. Check out the book Animal Reiki. Very good info in there about treating all kinds of animals.

Thanks Fay.. I guess my first question would be, have you received a special attunement for it, or do you use whatever Reiki modailty you would use on humans? Where is the best place to get training and info on the subject?

I received no special attunement for Animal Reiki. I use the same symbols for them as I do for people. I mentally ask their permission before I work on them. I use primarily Usui Reiki, but have incorporated other things when I feel guided to do so. I frequently use healing gemstone crystals. The animals seem to immediately sense the stones. Whenever they are comfortable with it, I put my hands on them, but depending on the circumstances, they are somtimes more comfortable having me do it from a short distance. I have a strong animal background which led me in the direction of working with animal healing. (I am a licensed vet tech--retired now, a certified animal behaviorist and an animal massage therapist.) I studied Tellington TTouch as well. There isn't much available for those who want to concentrate on Animal Reiki. There is the Animal Reiki book which has some helpful things. There is also a book caled Animal Healing and Vibrational Medicine by Sage Holloway. I don't know of anyone else who teaches specific Animal Reiki classes besides myself--at least in the Mid-Atlantic area where I live. I wish that I could have found one when I was learning. Now they are my very favorite classes to teach! By the end of the session, the animals who have been worked on by the students are usually in a blissful coma. Fay

I wanted to add that I try to always play music when I work on animals. They seem to love it and it helps relax them if they are nervous. The two CD's I most recommend are by Perry Wood. One is called Animal Healing and the other is called Music for Pets. Both of them are fantastic.
Another book you might want to check is called Crystal Healing for Animals by Martin J. Scott and Gael Mariani.

lol.......so true, I do a lot of work with feral cats, and think hearing our voices help calm them.........Reiki is fabulous for ferals, too.........my Leroy was a feral kitten, and I started sending him Reiki the first time I met him.............now I can hold him and pet him, and he purrs like crazy, but he won't let my partner pick him up..........I think the Reiki helped him form an attachment to me. Aww that is cute Kristi,,, I havent made up songs for each of them but I have one that has all their names in it, its funny you do that too hehehe.... Sometimes I will meow to them too, Monkee always freaks when I do that, he will run up to me and bite me, but not in a mean way, just like a nibble.... I always wonder why he does that,,, hes so cute when he does cause he gets all excited and then runs up to me and bites me and takes off just to do it again and again. Its funny... I wonder if hes thinking, is she ok? Why is she meowing?? Ive wondered also, the way and tone I am meowing, is it like saying something bad in meow and hes trying to tell me not to by biting me lololol
