I would not ignore those feelings and am glad to see that you're not. Intuition is using our knowledge and experience and taking it to a higher level that can't being identified. It's a form of intelligence. Why not use it? Especially if it can keep us safe.
I was in the redwoods...there are these trails. It's a busy place with lots of people walking through. I was walking out of the woods, as many people were. There were people walking into the woods, too. We passed each other on the trail. I saw a man walking in and I knew we'd pass. The second I saw him I suddenly hear "he's a serial killer! he's a serial killer!" in my head. I was soooo scared and freaked out. There was no way to avoid passing him either. He made eye contact with me and he would not look away, even though I did. I could feel him staring at me. When we passed each other, he leaned in toward me and had the creepiest feeling. It's hard to explain but his breath was on me and I just about sprinted out of the woods. He did not try to touch me or abduct me or anything, but he made it a point to lean in toward me. No, he wasn't cute and no he wasn't hitting on me either...he was just bad bad news.
So trust those instincts! You never know when they can save you.

I have used the eggshell technique and it works great. I have also used the orb on myself and others, especially my kids. I have used the tongue thing Aura mentioned, but in the Kundalini method, but usually when sending Reiki, it adds a punch.
As far as reading people. I have noticed very subtle difference in people I know and care about in just saying "HI".
I do feel "things" when around other people, but I think it was Christine that brought this up. "What mine is mine" and that usually works when I'm feeling stray feelings.

Wow, I am definately an empath. I have known for years that I have the empathic gift. When I started working with Reiki and it came through even louder. I have noticed it get stronger each time I do a session. I think Empathy is an amazing asset with Reiki and alone.
