This might be an interesting question, it is one that another student brought up in my Reiki class: What do you think about after you begin, during your Reiki session? The teacher replied that she thinks "Oh wow! I'm receiving Reiki! Oh wow, I'm healing" and lots of thankful thoughts for her ability that she sends out for the Universe etc to hear. Myself, it's early days still and it seems to vary, but usually I find myself visualising that my body is healing quickly, and I feel full of love and very appreciative at how relaxed I feel. I also keep going back to the sense of this huge Universal Source filling my entire being and flowing through my hands. Although sometimes I don't always feel it happening, since I have chatted on this forum with you all I just know that I'm doing just fine. I have only once given Reiki to another person since I stopped the classes, but when I was working with others in class I found myself thinking too hard on where I was sending the Reiki (what part of their body) but I have since found out that I needn't have, that the energy finds it's way to where it is needed so next time I know to just relax like I do when I self-heal.

I envision myself as a conduit , and just ask the angels and ascended masters for help, with the belief and faith of a child My intent to help another heal themselves or in self healing , intent to heal self with help of the all I tend to relax and just breathe, let the reiki flow Kat

I usually go into a meditative state, too. I tend to see visions and get psychic messages during that time. The cool thing about Reiki is that it just IS. Reiki does not need us to concentrate on it, direct it or validate it. You can think about your taxes, the errands you have to run or your toes. Reiki will flow through you and into the client because you've made yourself a channel. I love reiki!

I usually do the meditative thing, and when it feels like my body has disappeared, (or at least my hands), I know I'm there. Most often I hear messages, less often I see things. So, those are the things I think about when I'm doing a session. Usually, I just go with the flow and enjoy it.

I agree with Karen, a great thing about Reiki is that it simply is and we don't have to force it at all.
When I'm doing in-person treatments I tend to get distracted by what's going on around me but I just let the distractions wash over me without (usually) getting sucked in.
Distance healing is different for me...I tend to get to an extremely deep place and get all kinds of vivid images.
It always works!

I do all of the above,,,, depending on my state of mind or being... Also when I do distant Reiki I will imagine my crown chakra opening up and see a white light enter and see whatever color leave my hands and watch as it flows to the person I am sending to. I am like Christine in that way, I get more deep vivid images when sending distantly Good question,,, and for sure,,, you can think about whatever,,, i just have a colorful imagination!

This was a great question. I'm glad it was asked and that I got a chance to see what others are thinking/doing. I know I love the meditative state and the visions. I am often visited by animals and spirits when doing reiki.

Usually when I send, I go into a meditative state, my mind also floats with different thoughts. When that do, I just see them floating away. Sometimes get warm or don't feel certain parts of my body and sometimes feel nothing
When I receive, I sometimes just ask for Reiki like a chi ball from the Universe or if someone specifically sent to me, I do ask to receive from that person.
