Hello all, we used to make damper when we went camping out in the bush, we used camp ovens but it's just as easy to use an oven! Very good with butter, or if you like strawberry jam (jelly over there?)
Ingredients
4 cups self-raising flour 3/4 - 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons sugar 2 tablespoons butter at room temperature 1 cup milk 1/2 cup water
Method
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and mix in the sugar. Rub in the butter with your (clean) hands until a fine breadcrumb texture is achieved.
For a well in the top of the flour, pour in the milk and water, and mix well with a knife until the dough come clean from the sides of the bowl.
Turn out onto a floured board and knead until smooth and silky.
Shape into a mounded loaf, (some people cut a deep cross in the top) and bake in a preheated oven, 200 c (400 F), for 25 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 180 c (375 f) and cook a further 10 - 15 minutes until done . The loaf should be a light golden brown colour and sound hollow when tapped.

LOL,,, too funny... I already explained it to Nate in a PM but I will explain it here too so EVERYONE doesnt think hes nutty hehe.... The board came with some profanity words automatically changed when they are typed... We dont really swear on the board anyhow so I glanced at it and though ok,, just leave it.... Well apparently s p o o n is one of those words.... Why? I have no idea but I'm going to go change it and see what other nutty words are there hehe..... In the mean while you all better not do anything with s p o o n s that you arent suppose to be doing!! I'm watching now! hehehehe... That just sounds so silly...

I think everyone here already knows I'm nuttier than a bag a mixed nuts. Oh, true story, I brought a packet of mixed nuts and pretzels on a plane once, and you'll never guess what was written on the bag..."WARNING:THIS PRODUCT MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF PEANUTS!"
I nearly choked on a nut, and realised why the warning was there. But really, why put a warning like that on a bag of mixed nuts?

I always wondered if that was for real or a joke, it was on some website that was about,,, words stupidest signs or something like that.... I mean who would think peanuts in peanutbutter!! YUK LOL!
