this is not tried and true as of yet.... but I am going to be the guinea pig next weekend..
NO bug repellants work for me... not matter how thick I layer them when we go to TX to see hub's family, I come home all eaten up by bugs. LOL seriously... one time I had 26 bites on me... it's still a joke to this day. ( ha ha I'm sooo sweet they just love me!
So I read in one of my books Ahh HA!! that taking vitamin B1 for two weeks before a trip and then using lemongrass and eucalpytus oils as a body spray should keep them off me.
so we will see..!! Anyone else heard of this and used it before?
or anyone have any other suggestions for me?
hugs and love, Janet

ha ha! I have heard about the skin so soft... i want to say i used it years ago when we went and it didn't work for me either.
you know I forgot to tell you... it's so funny that you named me sweetie pie, cause that's what I call my husband! even on my cell when he calls.. it says "sweetie pie calling"... isn't that a coincidence? LOL
Hugs and love

you know what worked really good for me and my mother-in-law when we went to Texas this year: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Sun block. It works great, soft small and feels good too. My Mother-in-law is very sensitive to everything and she had no problem using this. Great sun block and no bug bites.

My Mum is a target for 'mozzies'. All us guys can be standing around outside, and they will devour her and not us.
I've heard WD40 can work as a repellant, but I'm sure you don't want to smell like that! Have you tried aloe vera?

I've heard citronella oil can help, but you might want to do some research on it before you try.

I think..... and this is just me thinking,,,, but I think citronella is something you might not want to put on your skin.... I have made candles with it, and they do help the bugs stay away, and you can put it in a lamp or torch and burn it around you, but I think it is a pois ion you wouldnt want on your skin. The candles and torches work though,,,, so maybe try those too....
Thats funny about WD40 it really is,,,, just be careful your not in the sun, you might fry up LOL...
Try the Skin so Soft if you havent already...

I have used lavender oil before, I want to try the lemon grass and eucalyptus. We have West Nile pretty seriously here is Idaho and they are telling people to use 40% Deet repellant. I just cannot do that, it is poison. I have heard that about Skin-so-Soft, need to get some and try it, too. My sister surrounds herself and her family with violet light, and she swears it works. I tried that at a reunion over the weekend, and didn't get bit once. Kristi

This fourth of July I used the Skin So Soft when we watched the fireworks... I was feeling bad though because of my back hurting and all, not feeling very creative or like making more work for myself.... But last year, I was outside with a bunch of people and I reiki-ed my arms and didnt get one bite, when all my friends complained they got bit up..... It was funny because the group of friends I was with, are not into woo-woo stuff, they know I am just weird,,, so I wound up explaining in greater detail what Reiki is then previously to most of them and got some very strange looks and comments from them.... Most of them have known me for years so they expect weird stuff out of me though... I totally think its possible to use Reiki in that manor, I believe if you believe it will work, then it will....

ahhh Star... I just love you. I will use the Reiki armour also. Yesterday we had to do a "target run" and I found some natural bug spray with Lemon Eucalyptus. So I should be safe this time with all of the protection, and NO chemicals.. HUGS
Love and miss you

Awesome, let me know who makes that spray and if it works... Skin So Soft is not completely natural, but for some reason I have it in my head that it is better then using something like Off.... I would be willing to switch to something else that is natural though so let me know how it goes

yes mee too... used so much of that deep woods OFF when I was there last time, I'm not kidding I think I had 5 layers of it on. all that chemical poison!
I'm bringing the natural stuff I bought, and it's in a spray that the lid is removable, so I might add some extra lemongrass and eucalyptus oil to it if I need to. I also found a citronella oil that is made for your skin. So I better not come home with any bites this time! LOL

Great idea, Reiki to keep bugs and such away. My daughter has problems and I'll just put a violet bubble around her. I like it.
