Last night my friend and I went to an outdoor Christmas party at an animal sanctuary in the forest. We sat down next to the campfire to get warm and watch the fire a while. We noticed that the fire kept sending off sparks, more than I have ever seen before, almost like sparklers (the firecrackers). I really believe they were "salamanders"--the fire fey. As the sparks shot up through the night air they almost seemed to have little tails. They were so beautiful that I called on them again today when I was doing some healings.  |

How cool,,, you know I was told this a long time ago,,, so long ago I have no idea who told it to me... This post made me think about it and ever since I can remember I have had an affinity for salamanders.... I was told that you should not blow out a candle, rather you should smother it our or snuff it out because the salamander that lives in the fire will become restless if you blow it out... Has anyone else ever heard of this? If so, what did you hear? It sounds like you had a great weekend Christine! The farm and now this,,, too cool!  |

i've heard of it. i've heard several reasons why not to blow out a candle. i always wave my hand above it to put them out.

I too don't blow them out anymore. I went out and bought a snuffer for that very reason. I've not heard the stories, but Star told me about this a while ago.

What a cool thing Christine. And I think I remember hearing something like that before Star...not completely but similar....now I'm going to wrack my brain to figure it out!Watch out for more smoke..lmao
