Yeah!
We just watched a program about garbage and land fills a couple of days ago. I remember thinking with all of this plastic why don't they create a biodegradable type of bag for our garbage yanno?
We just signed up today for our recycling service. It's only $4 a month extra! That's it. And I think alot of people don't know that anything you put in a plastic bag.... ends up in a land fill.

Yeah, I agree... I'm not sure I'd say 6 bags worth that is a bit of a stretch.... maybe 4 bags. I bought a few of those $1 cloth bags at Wal-mart and Kroger some cheapie beach bags for $2.50 for using at other stores to reuse. It's amazing how much you can fit into those bags but I don't think it's 6 bags either.
It's better than none I guess. Now if we're talking Wal-mart...Walmart is pretty crazy about the bags though. I've came home with 10 bags from them and just $50 in grocery's. They'll sometimes bag one item yanno? You have to tell them "it's ok I can carry that" for like toilet paper and stuff. Why bag that yanno?

Oh LOL I was thinking more then 6 bags a week!! Like a lot more! In publix (our grocery store) they will even put the milk in a bag! Its like why? Just like toilet paper I guess!
I have a lot of cloth bags that I used to print on and messed up on the printing so I use those... I also saw a really neat idea on using old t-shirts, just by sewing the bottom of the t-shirt and then cutting a large hole where the arms and neck goes and turning it inside out. That way the shoulders of the t-shirt are the handles. I havent done that but I am starting to use other recycled cloth things! I knew when I messed up printing on some of those tote bags that I would eventually find a use for them! hehehe

Wow,,,see it is unbelievable. I too have some cloth bags I use, but it is crazy how many extra bags stores use. I have of course gotten the milk and tp thing, but I regularly get extra bags that stick on others. I hope they are banned everywhere. It's about time everyone looks at tomorrow and what it will be. Are we going to end up being a whole world full of trash, no green trees, no animal life..pretty sad.

In Boston they may be banning plastic bags in the near future...although I don't mind getting some to line garbage cans, pick up dog poop, etc., stores give out way too many. Now I'm starting to see a lot of people walking around with the canvas bags.
I still have a whole huge cupboard filled with plastic bags. I keep meaning to bring them back to the grocery store to recycle but I forget...
There are some plastic bags that biodegrade...I buy stuff at the Body Shop sometimes and they use plastic bags that break down in one year. There must be something like that for trash too...have to look next time I go to the store!
