When doing energy work on a person ( reiki or others) ,suppose we have persons suffering from mental problems ,epileptic or insane , and when the person cannot relate with the healer with his own will- what is the role of Karma in all this ? Are we hopeless ? i agree that disease also assist us in our growth , but what about the insane person . Please help. Light and Love to all !

Wow, that is a really complex question. I guess a lot of your question depends on the definition of the mental illness and the word insane. And your definition may be different to what someone believes. I'm sure Karma has a lot to do with most things in life, however one's Karma may not be shared by another. Does that make sense. Let us know what definitions of the illness and insanity. Also I believe any challenge in our life that we overcome furthers our growth.

I am a mental health social worker and have done some more with Reiki and people with mental illnesses. Someone with Schizophrenia that I worked with taught me a lot about the role of Reki and mental illness. I could help alleviate some of her symptoms, and help her think more clearly, but the mental illness was in fact part of her journey in this lifetime and Reik could not heal it completely. The word insane really has no meaning. What mental illnes specifically are you asking about? Reiki has been very successful in people with Bi-Polar Disorder, ADHD, and Depression. Kristi

[glow=red,2,300]Thanks for the reply.[/glow]. I accept your view about the person's choice and journey in this lifetime. But ,I would also like to ask if that particular person has chosen to experience Pain / Mental Illness in this life time , are we able or do we have the spiritual right as healers to intervene in that person's schema of experience ,and if so, how to assess / discern it . Light and Love !

I love the question very much and have wondered about it, too. My feelings are that I am willing to help anyone who wants it. Sometimes, that means I send them reiki and it is up to their higher self to take it from there. Just my two cents...

It is my personal experience/belief that we have an ability to "assist" those who come to us. But it's important to remember we are just the facilitators and can't heal or make anyone's experience any different than they chose to have. I hope this makes sense. If someone has chosen to come to you we can do what we can.
If this is someone who is suffering greatly and you would like to help but they have not come to you... I'm not sure there is much you can do but to send them some Love and Light. Pray for their journey to be as easy and gentle. Or what many of us call sending Reiki hugs. Ask guides and Angels to be with them and do what they can do to help. Somethings are out of our hands. I have sent Angels to lay with my homeless father at night many many times and watch over him. But sadly this is all I can do.
I don't mean to sound discouraging but... I also guess, I'm not exactly certain about your question.
Is it like this sort of situation (mentioned above)? If so... Are you worried if you send Reiki you'll have Karmic consequence? As I have met some people who believe it is possible to take on someone else's Karma. This has never been a worry of mine as I believe we create enough Karma of our own, on our own and for our own purpose. Taking it on would be a choice and about intention. Again my personal belief.
I am wondering if your question is a concern regarding "taking on someone else's Karma" or feelings of not doing enough and it having Karmic consequences? Heck I came across a lady who thinks it's Karmically consequential to use your pendulum on anyone's questions that aren't your own. So some people believe a variety of things when it comes to Karma.
So, since, I'm not exactly sure but if you are concerned about this. Know that you can always send your Loving thoughts, Reiki and anything else positive to the person. If they are open to receive it... they will. There is no wrong with Reiki (IMHO) If not it will go some place that does want it. I have experienced this with family members and will send them some Reiki with the intention that if they do not want it to have it serve a useful purpose some where.
I hope this helps. I'm kind'a rambling now.

I have to confess I am not a big believer in karma...or at least the idea that it is something that is here to punish us for the past. I don't think anyone would decide to have mental illness or any other kind of illness in this lifetime...but maybe in a state between lives, we decided to have illness for some reason that's beyond our understanding now.
Don't lose hope...I have seen Reiki help many people with very severe mental illnesses. Of course, these people had to be open to it, continue to work with their doctors and therapists, and they are not "cured" of the mental illness. In working with one schzophrenic man I came to realize that he wasn't just a label but was a real person with a real life that happened to include this psychotic illness. Seeing him in that way really opened up a lot for me and was humbling.

There might be a simple solution to this.
See if you are or feel "called" to send energy to the person or are holding yourself back from doing it. If yes, then send energy.
If you feel like you are pushing the issue, as if you were willing it or were too quick to jump into the act of sending energy, then let go of it.
That way you'd naturally come to contact with what is needed at the time.

Well........My fiance is an epeleptic and has ADD along with degenerative back disease. I have a daughterwho hass ADD/CAPD and anxiety/depression,I myself(I'm a reiki master)suffer from depression and anxiety and Fibromyalgia.Reiki has totally helped my family. My fiance is a reiki1 and My youngest is a reiki 2.I have found it brings peace to my fiance and daughter-along with myself. As far as Karma goes......I don't believe you take on anyones karma when healing.I believe I even read this in a Diane Stein book.when you do reiki not only are you healing that person but also yourself. If you want to look at it technically....it's not us doing the healing-we're just the facilitators.....our guides and ascended masters or whoever you call upon are doing the work so.....this would cancel out the whole taking on someones karma thing since it's not us healing them......I hope that makes sense.
