Tell me of owls oh wise people!...please... I know that they are wise spirits but other than that I really don't know that much. I ask cause it was so neat tonight...the one night I don't have my real camera with me in the car, just my cell with a camera...sigh. I'm leaving my friends place after a fun evening of beading and drooling all over the stuff she has! Gosh this girl has more craft stuff than....not sure what but she has so much....Anyway!! So I'm driving down her drive way and look at the post at the end of her driveway and think "Hey, I didn't notice an owl ornament there when I came in?.." You know how some people have them at the end of their driveways? So I stop, and it looks at me and looks away. I think, "crap, of all the nights to leave my camera at home! No one will believe me!!" I turn off my stereo, the heater and crank the passenger side window down. The owl ruffles it's feathers and gives me the stare down. I remember my cell phone and hope to god I can get a clear enough picture and as I do this I'm talking to him. Hi how are ya? What brings you here this wet and rainy night. I got 2 pics...not very good ones but hey. He was probably what the height of a paper towel roll or a little bigger, brown/black and white feathers. He stayed and stared at me for a good 5 minutes. I wish I knew what he had been trying to say. sigh...then he ruffled his feathers again and swooped away. Complete wings spread and swooped in front of me and then away to the field across the way. It was awesome. Sigh...mmmm, makes me smile. Anyway, ramble over. Can someone tell me more about this magnificent bird? Thanks!

I don't know much about the owl totem, but I have always been fascinated by owls too, as well as falcons. They are really cool!

he may have been there for your friend. i know they symbolize wisdom and foresight, but also can symbolize omens of death. (sorry, but true. lol) hang on and i'lll...............................okies, here ya goesit:
Owl: deception, clairvoyance, insight (the night eagle)
Owls come in all sizes, from a tiny miniature that actually lives inside the cactus in the desert, to the great horned owl, which is the only bird that can out fly the golden eagle. A fully grown great horned is an awe inspiring creature. Its talons are furry, and closely resemble the paws of a baby mountain lion with claws extended. It is a meat eater, which means it can be a fierce warrior if challenged, or if something dear to it is threatened. It is often referred to as Night Eagle. Owl is at home in the night. It has great awareness of all that is around it at all times. It has predator vision, which means it sees clearly what it looks at. It has great intuition: it is the totem of psychics and clairvoyants. It has the courage to follow its instincts. Owl's medicine includes seeing behind masks, silent and swift movement, keen sight, messenger of secrets and omens, shape-shifting, link between the dark, unseen world and the world of light, comfort with shadow self, moon power, freedom.

I remember the owl being the one that travels between the veil of the spirit world and the physical world, both owl and hawk do that but owl has a different type of wisdom to it then the hawk That is a totally cool story Sloan,,, its funny because I was at my moms house yesterday and she was showing me one of her plants and as I looked I was like, what is that, and moved some leaves back to discover a little plastic owl sitting behind the branch on the tree, it startled me because I thought the plastic owl was actually part of the tree! When I looked at it, I thought about the meaning of the owl and here I read this! Coincidence? I think not!

Thanks faery. And you're right he could have been there for Dawn, I was thinking that too but I had to know more about him since he did give me the stare down and all. And 2 owl stories within days of each other....hmmmm...kinda neat Star.

Maybe more wisdom is going around. I've never seen an owl before. I need to look a little closer.

It sounds to me that the owl was meant to interact with you, Sloan. And keep in mind that death doesn't always literally mean death. It can mean the end of a cycle, a phase, a relationship, a job, etc. Since my Animal Speak is already packed up, I'm going to send you this link to read more about the symbolic meaning of the owl. www.whats-your-sign.com/animal-symbolism-owl.htmlWhat a cool experience! When I talk to animals, I thank them and ask them what they want me to know. You mentioned not knowing why it was there. Next time, ask it. Have your intuitions and psychic powers become stronger? More accurate? Happening more often? I think the owl could be telling you that you are developing more of your psychic gifts. AWESOME!

I wonder where that picture was taken. It looks the mountains in the winter here. We have lodge pole pine trees, which are tall and skinny like that. Kristi

I love the picture too. Funny this came back around. We were going into Wally wood the other day and Sara noticed this owl on the roof. We kept looking and looking, it wasn't an owl, but something like a piece of metal or something, but that looked like an owl even as close as we could get. Sara always notices birds.
