I've always wondered if having a birthday in December especially the later ones caused kids to get less or more for their birthdays. Just wanted to know...

well, my sister's b-day is on the 10th of dec. and she usually got the short end of the stick on that one, too. she'd get less for her birthday, because christmas was "right aroung the corner". pfh. i thought that was not cool, but i hear that alot from other's w/b-days in the month.

I'm a December baby and I have been lucky. I don't know if it's because my birthday is early in the month (the 7th) or because I'm surrounded by generous, thoughtful people. I can only remember one or two times that an aunt or two said I was getting one gift but it was worth more. LOL I have to say, we all want someone to acknowledge our birthdays and it really stung to get one gift when everyone else got their very own birthday present.
But, as I've gotten older, my birthdays have gotten more and more fun! I've had Birthday Weekend Extravaganzas for the past five years or more!

My birthday is 12/16 and it's only in the past few years (I'm going to be 35) that I haven't hated my birthday. I definitely didn't get as many birthday presents but that didn't bother me much...it was more, as I got older, that no one remembered my birthday. Especially in my 20s, I made such a big deal of other people's b-days that to have mine totally forgotten, or worse ignored because people were busy with Christmas really rotted. It used to bother me when work people forgot my birthday because I organized other people's party's (oh, the codependent irony!). Eventually in 2001 I couldn't face my birthday being passed over anymore, so I started taking it off as a vacation day every year and doing something for myself instead of being dependent on other people to remember it. Since then my birthday went from a whiny, depressing thing into something fun that I celebrate for myself. Another thing I used to do is have a "forgotten December birthday party" for all my other Dec. baby friends who had the same experience I had...we would go to dinner, go to a piano bar and do something fun!!! I love that you vacationed your birthday...what a great idea. What a great idea to start "forgotten December birthday party" club. You're so smart.
