away from drudgery, away to be me
my wings would stretch and take me high
beyond the mountains; beyond the sky

into the ether, into the unknown
my spirit, exhilerated, returning to my own
no bondage, no judgement, no boundaries to break
only freedom abroad, free to take

if i could do anything, i'd remember you
watching, waiting, for my return to view
i will not return from the dreamy heather
but mark my love with this special feather

a feather that floats as freely as me
bringing wonder and beauty to see
this, for you, is my symbol of love
