Has anyone else done Reiki on farm animals? A few times a year I volunteer at an animal sanctuary called Winslow Farm, about an hour south of Boston. The woman that runs it has adopted almost 300 abused and neglected farm animals, birds, and cats. Last night the farm had a Christmas event and I went with my friend Theresa. The farm itself is great just to hang out but the best part is the animals. We went into the barn where most of the goats, ponies, horses, and mules are. My friend and I spend a lot of time doing Reiki on the animals. One little girl goat named Petey kept leaning her head into my lap while I did Reiki on her. I guess that's a sign of affection for goats. I worked on her for quite a while. Then I got up and was walking around the barn, only to find she was following me. I started to Reiki her again. She was so fat and furry with her winter coat. The animals there are such amazing teachers...I feel like they are all about love.

I havent personally given reiki to farm animals, but I have worked with some people that sent reiki to horses. One lady in particular said that her horses loved the full spectrum healing modalitity. She worked with some abused and neglected horses so I can see where that would be awesome for them..... It sounds like you had fun with those animals Christine,, I wana go with you to the farm!! We dont have many farms down here but we have lots of domestic and wild animals... I saw a raccoon in my back yard yesterday, it was stealing the outside cats food,,, I thought it was just so cute, acting like a little bandit like that,,, I was out on my swing just sitting in the back yard and up it walked... Too cute... I agree the animals are all about love

Sounds like you had alot of fun. It's awesome that you can do that. I have done a little bit of reiki on horses. One of the kids I work with takes riding lessons and so sometimes when I go to the barn to pick her up I've got a few horses just reaching to be petted, almost like they know I can give them a little extra. teehee it's kinda funny. Not as cute as your goat following you though Christine; that is just too cute!!

We went to a pet shop yesterday and worked on animals. I worked on rabbits and birds. It was so cool. The bunnies mobbed me and nibbled as my sleeves and licked me while I sent to them. It was so cute! My sister had a really interesting experience with a big fish. He was zooming around his tank acting all upset before she started working on him. He calmed down, and looked right at her while she was sending into the tank. It was so cool! Kristi

I have done Reiki on farm animals and they are very appreciative. I often get the sense that while their basic needs are met, they don't have the compaionship they would like to have.

As it was pointed out to me again recently, hand positions really don't matter. Just ask that the Reiki be directed to the place it is needed and it will. Intention is everything. Hope this helps

Anything with a spine has pretty much the same chakras as a human.
I recommend the book Energy Healing for Pets by Margrit Coates for drawings of animal chakras and Animal Reiki by Kathleen Prasad and Elizabeth ? for more on doing Reiki on animals.

I agree, it doesnt matter where you put your hands because Reiki is smart energy but here are some pictures that I have collected for a while.... That may be useful =] The horse and its chakras... And the cat.... Sorry dont have a dog yet,,, maybe one day ill find one but i assume it would be similar to a cat =]
