Hi everyone! I bought some runes yesterday and I am SO pumped about them! They seem really lovely and I'm wondering if anyone else likes them? How do you use them specificially? Any certain layouts you like? Many blessings

i like runes, but it's a little trickier for me. i realized that i would have to learn what each symbol is and their meanings and honestly my memory isn't very good. lol. i'm still iffy on wether or not i want to learn to use them. so, how's it going with you? you may be a natural, eh? maybe you could share one day?

Hi Shawna, I got some runes last year but I haven't really read with them yet. For me they seem to have a very strong, "masculine" type energy while Tarot seems more soft and fluid (Tarot is what I usually read with). I know I bought the runes for a reason, I just haven't gotten into them yet. Let us know how it goes or if you find any books you recommend. Christine

I got some runes a few years ago, they were named Healing Runes which totally gelled with me,,, and well I think I accidentally threw them away. I was moving a bunch of stuff in my office room around and there was a little box with them and something else in it that I cant find, and the trashcan was right under where the box was kept, so I think they might have accidentally fallen into the can while everything got moved around! I did not feel so connected to them though, like Christine said,,, thanks for saying it for me cause I felt like that but could never put it into words... They do feel more masculine and the tarot feels more feminine..... I do know a lot of the symbols and their meanings though, I actually sold rune charms for a while when I first went on eBay, and I have a lot of them left... Some of which I give away and some that I dunno, will find a home one day, if even through selling them in my store when I manifest that, who knows! Selling them did help me familiarize myself with them and their meanings though There is also a particular healing modality called Run Valdr which feel TOTALLY masculine to me, I am attuned to it and have used it,, it deals with the runes as well... It is interesting because it helps you learn the meanings of the runes as well... I always wondered if it was just the runes I bought that didnt click with me or what,,, I wasnt sure because I enjoy Run Valdr. Maybe I needed to "loose" the runes I had to find some new ones,,,, who knows! So what kind of runes do you have Shawna,,, I am always open to learning more things! And which is your favorite rune? Thats it for me and runes! (((hugs)))

I have Relationship Runes, but it also tells you the meanings based on the basic runes and healing runes as well. I've already drawn the Loving/Kindness rune...every single time it's in one of my spreads, and I pick it first. Quite cool.

Neat. I have a set of runes, a set made out of aventurine and I have used them but not with a whole lot of surety or regularity. I need to get a better book I think on them to learn more before I try using them again. At this point in time I'm just not ready to I think. I'd love to hear more about how you do with yours.

I have Runes, too. They are the Viking Runes... when I went to to rock and fossils (AKA ooohh pretties) shop the other day, that is what I bought for my freind that is leaving school on Tuesday!
I bought my set years ago.. they have apouch and came with a grey book called The Book of Runes by Ralph Blum... I also have the book The Healing Runes.. so I use the same set of runes... but it depends on the issue at hand which book I use.. or if I use both. Thay are both written by the same guy.
For Example: I'm gonna reach in my bag and grab one out for my "what do I need to know today? OK... I pulled out LAGUZ in the healing book.. it says HUMOR, and the Rune book, it says FLOW
Here are the different descriptions:
Humor: drawing the rune is aways an ecouraging sign... for it brings three gifts.. an invitation, a peice of advice, and a blessing. If you find yourself in the middle of a difficult situation that threatens to overwhelm you, take time out to see the humor in it all. Thats the invitation. The advice goes something like this, pushing yourself you hard? doing too much for others?break up the pattern, lighten up. and remember humor is the mildest detergent of them all. Since it is said that God's favorite music is laughter, know that each time you laugh, your laughter is your gift to God. Thats' the blessing. it is on the road to healing that we revoer our sense of humor and learn to apply the salve of laughter to old wounds, that;s the advice...
OK I shortened it a bit... because it is long!
The other book FLOW says... Water.... that which conducts.. Unseen powers are active here, powers that nourish, shape and connect. The attributes of this rune are water fliuidity, the ebb and flow of emotions, of voations and relationshios. Lagus supports your desire to immerse yourself in the experience of living without having to evaulate or understand. It speaks to the satisfaction of emotional needs, to the awakening of the intuitive or lunar side of your nature. for while the sun strrives for differentiation the moon draws us toward union and merging. This rune often signals a time for cleansing: for revaling reorganizing, realigning. A rune of eep knowing, Laguz may call you to study spiritual matters in readiness for self transformation. Success now lies in contacting your intuiive knowing, in attunng your own rhythems. A rune of the self relating rightly to the Self, FLOW signifies what alchemists called CONJUNCTIO or SACRED MARRIAGE In fairy tales it is the end where the hero and the heroine live happily ever after.
Ok soo... for me today.. here is what I get from it..
last night we were on our way home from dinner with friends, and we were laughing about some one liners at dinner.. my hubby said it was so nice to see everyone laugh because we all are having our stresses/issues right now.. And I said i know, I have to keep laughing just to keep myself from crying. So that humor was right on.
The flow just really seemed to resonate also.. OMG!
Thanks for making the post and having me get my runes out! In the book, it says to reach in a grab one.. so I don't know other ways to use or read them myself.
Hugs and Blessings, Janet

Very cool Janet about your runes you picked! I love what they said to you and how you interpreted them. I just looked at my book, and its the same one you have, by Blum and Loughan,,, but the runes are still gone.... Oh well, maybe I will find another set one day... I know they are the same symbols as other runes so if I were to loose something better loose the runes then the book! I bought some for Nikki a few Christmas's ago,,, they were engraved on amethyst stones.... Talk about pretty!

I was using the runes last night about my situation and I picked: Situation: Inner peace Challenge: Right action Overall: challenges
I LOVE these!!! I had no idea.
You know what else I picked up this weekend? A set of Harmony Angel cards (I believe...have to look it up) and they are really lovely too. I've been fasinated with the runes so far, but I have got to pull those suckers out some more.
The other night I read my cards and it was spooky how accurate it all is.

Hey Shawna,,, what are the runes called? I went to the bookstore yesterday and saw some runes and thought about you... (I know my first trip in public since the surgery) I didnt buy any but I did check them out, they were cool, but I have seen some that were on actual stones. I bought some for my best friend a few years ago that were made on amethyst stones. So I thought maybe I would ask you what yours were called
