You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay.... This book was like a total AH HA! moment for me... I know I have talked about it to many of you and some of you have it,,, but for those that dont,,, this book really is one of those books you NEED to get.... It talks about the correlation to our physical & emotional bodies and our spiritual bodies, it works as a reference book to many different diseases and problems... It really is a great book...

I love Louise Hay! I think my favorite line by her is, "it's only a thought and a thought can be changed." That said, I find You Can Heal Your Life a little troubling. I read it a few years ago and I remember her saying something like AIDS is caused by low self esteem. Which would maybe make sense if she was thinking that people with low self esteem may be more likely to use drugs or have unprotected s*x...but no, she goes on to say that if one person does these behaviors and has a great self esteem, he won't get AIDS, another person with a poor view of himself is likely to get AIDS. I just find that really troubling and very much like blaming the victim. I don't want to be negative, but I just wanted to point this out because I think that some of Louise's mind-body explanations can be a little judgmental. However...if you can weed through that stuff or if it doesn't bother you, Louise Hay is just amazing. 90% of what she says is just mind-blowingly positive and empowering. I also recommend all of her guided meditation CDs especially the Affirmations for Self Esteem. Good stuff. Christine

Oh, I have so many Louise Hay books. I am not sure if I have this particular one, but I'll check it out. I don't think there is any author that I agree with 100%. Of course there are some better than most. Louise Hay is definetly one.

Me, too............I have found this book useful many times. I go to a tattoo artist who has it in her office. She is always telling people to "look it up" whenever anyone has a problem. It's really funny! Kristi

Certainly one that I will look into. I've heard of her, but I'm pretty sure I don't have any of her books.

Your right Christine, some of her stuff is out there but I do think it has some merit to a lot of it. I dont recall the part about AIDS though,,, I read the whole book a long time ago and now just refer to it as a refrence,,, but I do like it... Since you mentioned her a while ago Christine I have gotten a few of her audio stuff from itunes,,, (another growing addiction lol) but I love listening to her speeches... Shes very positive,,, her techniques of holding the positive in your mind and doing affirmations really resonate with me...
Sloan, have you heard of Hay House Publishing? She owns that,,, you can also go to hayhouseradio.com and hear tons of talk shows there by many cool authors. Thats sometimes how I find someone new, you know you have your old favorite authors/teachers but sometimes u need someone new to listen to or read from...
And ya Saf,,, I dont know many authors I agree with 100% all except "my boyfriend" Wayne Dyer hehehehehe.... The news is spreading fast about that LOL!

hi sweets! I 'm so sorry I haven't been around.... my life is is a freakin choas right now... some good, some bad, and I just haven't been around much at all.
I have this book also, I lent it to my brother and Mike, but I think I need to buy a new one... LOL!
I also have the mixed feelings. I didn't see about the AIDS thing... I have asthma so I looked that up a long time ago, and it did fit. My asthma has improved, but it still acts up now and then.
Since I don't have my book handy right now... does she say anything about "anything" that leads up to "AIDS"?? because AIDS is associated with HIV... you can't get aids without first being HIV +, then when the immune system t cells drop below a certain number (I think it's 200) then the HIV + person is considered to have AIDS. and subject to "opportunistic infections" which is basically what they would pass on from.
Most of you know me well enough to know that my brother is gay and HIV+. He does not have AIDS though. the meds they have now are so wonderful, his t cells are over 800... He does not have a low self esteem, he's one of the most confident people I know. could he have had low self esteem when he accqired HIV? I'm not sure. Now I'm gonna have to ask him! LOL
Hugs and love, as always!
Janet

Janet, I think when Louise Hay wrote the book (about 25 years ago) there wasn't a lot of knowledge about AIDS. I'm glad to hear your brother is doing well on the new meds. I think a combo of medicine & alternative stuff is the way to go with most conditions, at least for me. Christine

I kind of think like anything can be related to things on an energetic level first and then manifest themselves in a physical form... Thats what I really took from that book. I guess that book made so much sense to me because when I read it about 4 years ago,, it was right after I injured my back. What she says about low back issues REALLY was spot on for me... It talked about not feeling supported and having financial things come up and that was so me when I fell down those stairs,,, so when I read that it was like wow something totally clicked for me you know? Of course that isnt the case with everyone and well maybe its just my perception with it but thats how I come to love the book. I believe that some people have bad backs because of a various number of things, not just not feeling supported like she says in the book,,,, but a lot of what she says in the book relates to a lot of clients I have had has since,,, and even my own struggles with different, little things,,, so I find it a useful tool, but like anything,,, if you like it great, if not let it go.... It's funny I saw this chakra video on youtube and this guy was writing comments about it all being BS and all this stuff and people were replying with comments in support of chakras & Reiki and I thought, well ask him if he has ever had reiki,,, and if not then try it and then lets talk.... His reply to me was something along the line of "the worst way to judge something is by your own perception", andwent on to say "just cause someone hypnotizes someone to say they are a chicken, doesnt make them a chicken right?" Uuuummmm,,,, I didnt reply, hes not ready to get it, I didnt want an argument. I just like to say that to people that are closed enough not to even try it, either I get a really unintelligent answer like that back or I get an ok, why not try it, I mean if it doenst work then who cares, right? I am one of those hands on people, like to try things for myself,,, then i know,,, why is someone elses experience suppose to be real for me, you know? But yea,,, I think, try it, if it works,,, GREAT,,, if not then move on to what does, you know? I am really glad to hear about your brother doing so well Janet,,, I just found out a month or so ago about one of my good friends having HIV,,, his blood count is just above 200 or so and not quite on the meds yet but the Dr says once it goes below 200 he will go on them... He recently found out,,, and is finally starting to tell loved ones so it has been a struggle for him.... It's funny though cause I have been sort of teaching him some stuff dealing with energy and positive living etc,,, and the other day I was talking about something I was working on and I said,,, well maybe not, maybe I wont be able to do that,,, and he totally turned it around on me and was like,,,, Wait a second,,, YOURE the one who told me if you put your mind to it, you WILL.... Remember? .... nothing like being called out on something LOL,,,, its nice to know what I have taught others is helpful and works for me though too,,, sometimes I think my human mind needs a little reminder like that

Star.
My brother's t cells were only 40 3 three years ago, he had an oportunistic infection and was in the hospital for a month and a half,, at that point he was considered to be in FULL BLOWN AIDS....and after being on the meds it is over 800, and he's considered to be HIV + it's amazing. So your friend has much to look forward to. People live long healthy lives with HIV these days.
I found myself getting educated on the subject (of course) because there is so much fear surrouning HIV and people don't even want to hug a person with HIV for fear of "catching it"
Give your friend a big hug from me and my brother, K?
Hugs Janet
