Devi, I hope I explain this well. Grounding is keeping a connection with the earth so that when vibrations are high (such as when meditating or communicating with spirits), you won't get too spacey, dizzy, etc. You can ground by walking with bare feet on the earth, or by imagining tree roots that come out of your feet and go deep into the earth. Certain foods like potatoes and (yes!) chocolate can help ground you, if you eat them. I often forget to ground, and I can get dizzy and unwell if I do too much spiritual work without grounding. Hope this is helpful. Lynn

yes, eating is always a good way for me. then again, i love to eat. lol. also, certain stones can help; holding them after say a meditation and relaxing back 'down to earth'. also, not being grounded can keep one from being connected to the things of this life. sometimes it's easy to get swept away by divinations and forget to concentrate on life's issues on this plane. yes, lynnie, i think you explained it rather well, sweets!

I forgot about stones. In fact, I have so many to raise my vibration, that I'm not even sure which ones are good for grounding. Can you enlighten, oh faery?

well, several dark stones help, like slate, obsidian and black tourmaline as well as hematite, kunzite moonstone and even salt. there are more, of course, but that's just what popped in my head. lol. i'd have to get my books for more. in fact, making a circle of salt for meditation and divination purposes helps keep one grounded while doing their work.

I don't like baths, so I keep a salt lamp in my bedroom. It seems like the same stones that absorb negative are also the ones that are good for grounding? I should carry around a black stone more often. I had a jet bracelet with me during the whole funeral trip, and it must have had something to do with how well all that went.
Thanks, faery! ;D

Faery got it all, I like to carry black tourmaline, not only is it good for grounding it deflects negative energy. I find hematite too grounding if that makes sense.

Yea I made a little grounding grid for myself,,,, I tend to drift off into la la land sometimes and forget what I am suppose to be doing LOL.... The grid has been helping,,, I created it with slate, calcopyrite, hematite and snowflake obsidian... Also I garden as much as I can, especially after doing a reading or channeling, there is something to be said about getting your hands into the earth after that... I think I just like getting dirty too hehehe

It's very helpful to drink water after meditation and Reiki.

I think tourmaline is my favorite stone for grounding, but there are many other that I grab that you mentioned. But I think the one I use the most is rooting my feet. No matter where you are, this can be used.
And of course, chocolate. The woo woo shops I go to have chocolates sitting around, along with hot cocoa. What a great use for such a yummy treat.

ya know, i have to say, my favorite grounding stone is petrified wood. i have ALOT of it. lol. but, i use it in conjunction with everything else, so that there is a great balance of all aspects. actually, i have most of the pet. wood in my living room along with stones that relax, calm and absorb negative. when i need grounding or calming or whatever of that nature, i just go into that room and the total vibe of it is awesome. as far as the earth energy, it sort of runs through you, in the same sense as it would through a tree root. i always felt that it runs through me from feet up through my head and i feel the stability of it. i actually feel very aligned and 'solid' by it.

Devi,
When I do a grounding meditation or heal with earth energy, I visualize that any energy I don't need flows back into the earth.

Aura...I need to read the properties of the wood again. I don't remember that is a good grounder. I'll use it and see how it works for me...thanks
I like the energy not being used to go back to the earth, that's beautiful

So I am reading this book called Prepare for surgery, heal faster... Anyhow the author is big into meditation and being peaceful when you are preparing yourself for surgery, it came with a tape that has a meditation on it and she gives wonderful ideas about how to go about the process of putting yourself in this peaceful place. She is a medical Dr and she talks about things sometimes in a philosophical or spiritual sense so this book really resonates with me.... Anyhow the reason I brought this up here,,, after putting you into a meditation, and relaxing from head to toe, imagine the bottom of your feet having doors that open and you releasing all the tension out of your feet. I have been using this in my meditation and I really love it. The earth absorbs our negativity and turns it into positive energy so this is very useful and grounding.... Try doing it,,, just remember to close the doors of your feet when you are done, you dont want to leave them open.

cool. sounds good. yeah, saffy, it's good for grounding and connection to earth........here ya go:
petrified wood: energy: receptive, element: akasha, Powers: grounding, longevity, past-life regression, healing, protection
uses: petrified wood consists of ancient trees that, eons ago, were covered with mineral-rich water. the water slowly dissolved the wood and replaced it with various minerals. this process produced what we know as "petrified wood". it is a fossil and is ruled by akasha. because of its great antiquity (fossilized wood is millions of years old), it is carried or utilized in spells designed to extend the life span or. alternately, to increase our enjoyment of, and evolution within, our lives. also, due to its age, petrified wood is used to recall past incarnations and considering its connection to the earth, is also good for grounding. this stone is carried as a protective amulet because of its hardness and strange appearance. in earlier times it was thought to "scare off" evil. today we view it as setting up barriers of energy that deflect negativity.

Thanks Aura. I got out my books last night and looked it up. I now have a piece sitting on my bedside table.
Star, I love the way the book describes the energy. I'll have to try that. Also, if I run into any black tourmaline, I get some for you, if you want. I'll be going to the woo woo shop this week. I would ask if I could get anyone anything, but I don't think I can carry that much.
