I am looking to buy a seat to meditate on,,, I have a bunch of pillows that I sit on currently and I had a large comforter thrown over the pillows, but I would like something more permanent and simple.... I wondered if anyone uses anything in particular like a chair or a zafu & zabuton? If so how do you like it, any suggestions on where to buy one? I saw some really pretty zafu & zabutons on eBay that were hand made, about 60-80$ but from what I read in the feedback they are worth it... I just thought before I made a purchase I would ask around here,, maybe someone has a better idea or something else to look at before I buy something ((hugs))

I usually just sit in a chair but the zafus are pretty good. They do cost about that much everywhere I've seen them.
You could also try a meditation bench.

I have a few places, but I have to make sure I have enough support for my back to sit for a long time. Lately I've been using like 5 pillows to prop myself up enough and pillows under my legs, but I would love to find something that is comfortable. If you find something, let me know.

Check out Gaiam and Hugger Mugger for some awesome options...........I plan to order something for mediation from one or the other. I am using pillows and blankets now, and having trouble with neck and back pain during meditation.

Check out Gaiam and Hugger Mugger for some awesome options...........I plan to order something for mediation from one or the other. I am using pillows and blankets now, and having trouble with neck and back pain during meditation. i will do that for sure, i know Gaiam, dunno why I didnt think about it, ive ordered yoga stuff from them before too,,, doh!! Hugger Mugger is new to me though, will check them out,,, i think a proper meditation seat will help with your back and neck issues... i have also been looking for a new office seat, im thinking of getting one of those ergonomic kneeler chairs, i found one online that also has a back if I need to use it. I asked my physical therapist if she thought that was a good choice and she said yes it really puts your body into the proper alignment, and as long as you have strong spine muscles i can do it. she also said it will help to strengthen my back, just to break into it slowly.... you know backs on office chairs are not all that healthy for your back (unless they are super supportive) because we tend to sink in our middle & low back into the seat, sure its comfy if you can do it but its not that great for your spine.... im learning all this in PT hehehe.... I think a proper meditation seat will work good for me though,,, even if i break that in slowly and only meditate on it for 15 minutes a day and increase that slowly,,, i think it will be worth the effort.. let me know what you get kristi,,, im still looking

I am not copying you..I think. I saw those chairs and the first thing I thought was if it would be comfortable on by back. there is a store here that have these chairs and I'm going to go see if they are comfortable...I would love to have somewhere to actually have a specific place to sit.

I just ask, why can't I go to sleep. I find myself staying up till 1 or 2 and then I have to do Reiki and then an hour to 1 1/2 later, I am tired. Then get up 4 hours later to get Sara ready. But today, I slept and slept..I'll really stay up later again tonight...oh well

I was gonna suggest Gaiam too but Kristy beat me too it! LOL! I don't have a special chair either. I just sit where ever. But have wanted to get a chair due to the fibro. Thought it might help. Now I can't sleep right now cuz I took one heck of a nap today! Been so tired lately it hasn't been much of an issue. Fall asleep minutes after my head hits the pillow. Sometime before I've finished my prayers even! But, I have had many a night of not sleeping though and I'm feelin' ya Saffy! Totally! Hugs girl! And prayers/reiki for some rest! Maybe try and chill, set the intention that you're going to get rest and try a visual. Like a really long drawn out one. Create several places to visit in a meadow... like go to a tree and pick fruit, then go to a feild and pick (whatever) then go to a stream and do as you wish, then walk up a hill. I have a big huge house and flower garden I'll visit and will plant and move things around and add benches too... it's kinda cool. But sometimes having several places to go and things to do will if nothing else occupy the mind while your body rest's. If that makes sense. I will also pray (sometimes beg) for sleep from my guides and Angels and ask that they help my body rest and heal. Maybe that will help. I'm sending you hugs sweetie! All that ramble said. Star let us know what you decide/get. I'm totally interested to know if they are comfy.

I love the idea of going to several places... It sounds more like your on IMVU then meditating hehehe... It's a great idea though I will for sure have to use that one,,, I usually just go somewhere and dont really leave that place during the whole meditation,,, so thanks for the suggestion!
