My husband agreed to stay home and take care of the critters, so my friend, Laura and I are heading to Morefield mine on Saturday to dig for treasure! I am not looking forward to the 4 hour drive each way, but it will be worth it once we get there! Wish me luck! Fay PS: Since you live in the area veggiechef, why don't you join us???

Being an Aries, I just couldn't wait to give it a try before the Summer trip we are planning. I'll let you know what it's like there. I hope it isn't raining! Fay

if it's raining you won't have to dig as much, the dirt should just melt away and reveal the pretties for you....lol wishful thinking on my part isn't it?! teehee

I had a great time digging on Saturday! I went with my brother and his two sons and a friend of mine. The day flew by and before we knew it it was time to leave.
I got some lovely amazonite, a few small amethysts, a small piece of ametrine, milky quartz, star opal, smokey quartz and unakite. My brother is the stone expert in the family and he really helped us to know what we dug up.
As soon as I scrub them with a toothbrush, I'll take pictures and post them.
We were dirty, tired and hungry at the end of the day, but we enjoyed every minute of it!

Oh I so can't wait to see them! Remember to be careful with opals, No hot water or they might crack and loose their color! ....Sorry I had one crack on me years ago in gem cutting....opals are just sooo pretty....
