Hi everyone,,,
I am out of the hospital as of this afternoon.
I am doing pretty good. I had some problems with them figuring out the right pain medication for me but they figured it out and I have been stable for the past day or so. I was in quite a bit of pain the morning after the surgery and they experimented with some different meds to see which ones would work for me. I am relieved to be out because although everyone at the hospital was nice, it was not easy getting the nurses to do their jobs,,, they would think they gave me my meds and they didnt, and it was like I had to almost argue with them to get them to look at the chart because their memory was wrong. That is really the only complaint I have though, other then it being painful, but that was to be expected.
I am sore and walking VERY slowly but walking is a good thing! I have been taking little walks every hour or so, just a little bit here and there, the therapist said that is the best thing to do. The Dr's said that the surgery went great because of all the exercising in the gym before hand that I will recover fast. I knew that though, and I am so very thankful for doing all that hard work now! It really helps to have strong legs and arms to support myself because I can not bend, twist of lift anything for 6 weeks or so. Not being able to bend makes it a challenge to get out of bed, but strong arms helps a lot.
They were going to put me into the rehab part of the hospital but the occupational therapist said I was already doing well enough I didnt need it so I could go home. So they are sending a therapist to the house 3 times a week for a few weeks until I can start the outpatient therapy on my own.
I am staying at my mom and dads for a few weeks. I dont want to stay home alone now, the kids are at dads and it would be just me and the cats so I decided to stay here for a while. My parents have been really helpful and accommodating which makes me feel so good. In fact I had visitors almost constantly all day and evening between, family and friends in the hospital. It was nice to have that much support, it really made me think, if someone I love is ever in the hospital I am going to be there every day...
Anyhow,,, thats it for now, I am sitting only for a short time here and there so I will check in occasionally but wont be consistent on the boards for a while, I am sure... I have a lap top but I havent figured out how to lay and be comfortable with it so I dunno how that will work out, I am sure I will figure something! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent me reiki and let you all know that I am out of the hospital and getting along pretty well
If any of you have my number, feel free to give me a ring and say hi or email me if you like...
(((hugs))) and Love, Star
