Aura- I really like that, it makes even the most boring and mundane stuff seem more important and appreciated. My job involves a lot of cooking and cleaning and diaper changing. Today I will look at the time I spend on those tasks as an opportunity. Thank you!

[glow=red,2,300]Travel meditation for a train, bus, or in traffic gridlock: Let the whole of your body go loose, relaxing any area of tension, and take some deep breaths. Accept that there is nothing you can do to get to your destination faster. Focus on your breathing and visualize any anxiety or worry simply floating away with each exhalation. Just let it go. Each time anxiety or worry tries to come back, bring your focus back to the breath and let go. You might even want to repeat the mantra PEACE with each exhalation. When you are mindful, you are protected from the force of conditional habits of grasping, condemning, and forgetfulness which create pain and confusion in your life. [/glow]

Great idea. I usually do something while driving, but this adds to what I already do.

Oh I totally love this one!
Living where I live there is a lot of insanity on the roads, people are not always polite and they dont use turn signals or they do crazy stuff like apply makeup or go on computers or something else while driving,, (just a few things we saw this morning while driving home that we didnt see other places!)
I didnt realize how the drivers drive here so much because I have been conditioned to being here,, until I left and drove other places,,, people here really are a little nutty when it comes to driving,, and this is going to REALLY come in useful! I have done mindful driving for a while and this fits right in!

[glow=red,2,300]Imagine sitting beneath a rainbow and gradually it expands through your body, totally filling it and dissolving all obstacles. Your body shines like a lamp and light streams in all directions, filling space. It dissolves the suffering of beings everywhere and the world now shines with great meaning and joy. Emanate this light as long as it feels natural. Imagine the challenge of touching another person without any automatic or mindless movement. It would be caring. It is being present. [/glow]

Dribble a basketball and see how many times you can dribble before your mind wanders. [glow=red,2,300]Do koan meditation by first calming the mind for five minutes by watching or counting the breath. You are trying to awaken to your true nature by asking a question that resonates through the core of your being: "What is this?" Do not look for a conceptual answer. Keep repeating the question silently. Reflect that though you could ask "Who is this?", you stay with "what," because you are shaking off your usual identity and trying to discover the mystery of what you are underneath. Do not speculate; stay with the question and keep repeating it. Be aware that irritation will arise, but it will also pass. When you finish, keep the question with you as you go about your day. Become more and more loving and you will become more and more joyful. It does not matter if it is a person, an animal, or a rock. Sit by a rock and have a chat. Stroke the rock and feel at one with it. The rock may not return anything, but that is not the point of love. You become joyful because you loved. Let go of your battles and open your heart to things as they are. ((this one rings so deep for me today it's not even funny))

Today is a good reminder for me too. I'm sitting beside my computer and I feel connected to every single person.
Great thought Aura.

[glow=red,2,300]A meditation for quick relief when you feel overwhelmed: Take a few seconds to relax and breathe deeply. Accept that you cannot do everything at once. You can only do one thing at a time. Decide to focus on just one task and clear your mind of everything else. Whenever your mind tries to think about other things still to be done, gently bring it back to the task at hand. Now focus on that one task with mindfulness. Be aware of everything about it and use all of your senses: sight, smell, touch, etc. Calmly watch yourself doing the task until it is done. Then move on to the next task. Whenever you want to change a pattern of the mind that has become a long-standing habit, breathing is the best thing. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Pretend you have only one month to live. Whom would you say goodbye to? Whom would you thank? Whom would you forgive or ask forgiveness of? What would you like to do? Are your papers in order? Ask yourself: Am I awake? Where is my mind right now? [/glow]

Great things to think about. I have seen other people in this position and never thought if it were me. Something I should write down. i know so many people my family wouldn't think about.

[glow=red,2,300]Meditation is to be aware of each feeling. Recognize it, smile to it, look deeply into it, and embrace it with all our heart. Affirmation: I am. [/glow]
