[glow=red,2,300]When you are feeling discouraged, blast out of it by helping someone else. Chant the condensed "Heart Sutra": Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva when practicing deeply the Prajna Paramita perceives that all five skandhas are empty and is saved from all suffering and distress. Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness, emptiness does not differ from form. That which is form is emptiness, that which is emptiness form. The same is true of feelings, perceptions, impulses, consciousness. Shariputra, all dharmas are marked with emptiness; they do not appear or disappear, are not tainted or pure, do not increase or decrease. Therefore, in emptiness no form, no feelings, perceptions, impulses, consciousness. No eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind; no color, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch, no object of mind; no realm of eyes and so forth until no realm of mind consciousness. No ignorance and also no extinction of it, and so forth until no old age and death and also no extinction of them. No suffering, no origination, no stopping, no path, no cognition, also no attainment with nothing to attain. The Bodhisattva depends on Prajna Paramita and the mind is no hindrance; without any hindrance no fears exist. Far apart from every perverted view one dwells in Nirvana. In the three worlds all Buddhas depend on Prajna Paramita and attain Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi. Therefore know that Prajna Paramita is the great transcendent mantra, is the great bright mantra, is the utmost mantra, is the supreme mantra which is able to relieve all suffering and is true, not false. So proclaim the Prajna Paramita mantra, proclaim the mantra which says: gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Ask: do I have a passion for truth and enlightenment - or am I just going through the motions? The dazzling solutions and plans that arise during meditation can wait-they will come up again. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Find the silence which contains thoughts. Try staying with one complete in-breath and one complete out-breath. Keep your mind open for this full breath cycle. Let go of your ideas about getting somewhere or having something happen. After that, try for one more and one more breath cycle. When the mind wanders, return to the breath. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]If you're constantly thinking about what you'd rather be doing-getting off work, driving a different car, or eating dessert, your mind is starving for mindfulness. If you're reading an instant message and talking on your cell phone while thinking about things you need to get at the store, you're not doing any of these things fully-and essentially, you're missing out on your own life. The antidote is mindfulness. Koan: Water heats gradually and boils suddenly. [/glow]

Water heats gradually and boils suddenly.
That part especially stuck out to me. It is very true. I am often impatient for change and for progress and movement. I feel stuck when things are stagnant. But let me tell you, when things move in my life - they MOVE! I can't think of a time in my life where there was one change at one time. It has always been SEVERAL things happening at once. Boy, does that water boil fast!

I agree with you Karen. Water heats slowly and boils suddenly. That is so true, but something I never thought about it like that.

[glow=red,2,300]Try this Pranayama held-breath balancing breathing: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 2 counts, exhale for 4 counts, hold for 2 counts. Sit and breathe in and out through your nose. Imagine that you are drawing air in through the base chakra (one of the seven energy centers of the body), located between the anus and genitals. As you draw breathe in, imagine that it flows upward until it reaches your heart. As you breathe out, visualize the air flowing down to join the air of the next in-breath. You will become aware that you are breathing deeply and low. You may feel warmth or coolness in the chakra. Be aware of the feeling of inner energy flowing upward as it completes the circle on the out-breath to return into the body. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]The path is living each hour of the day in awareness, mind and body dwelling in the present moment. When you do something that creates suffering for another or for yourself, acknowledge what you are doing. [/glow]

I always think of things that we do all the time, like eating, or being conscious or our health of recycling... A lot of the times they are learned behaviors, and part of living in daily awareness so that you are living in the present but not harming other people in the process and protecting yourself and others by doing so...
I always looked at it like that,,, well since I started "going green" myself.... I am not perfect at it but I do notice myself govern myself in accordance with what is healthy and helpful for everyone involved more and more these days...
Great meditation Aura! ((hugs))

I actually like both of them. I came across the Prana breathing the other day and started using it. Very very easy and a great way to calm yourself down before meditation and through meditation, but just getting upset in daily life, taking a breath also calms me down.

[glow=red,2,300]Just be steadfastly wide open, without expectation or judgment. Surrender! When cleaning, remember that the process changes you as well as the surroundings and the people who come into those surroundings.[/glow]

That fits perfectly with what is going on in my life right now. Moving, wrapping up the school year, preparing for next school year (yes, I have to do that now) and trying to find balance in my life in friendships and other relationships. I have been totally stressed out and freaking out...I cry most every night now because I am so exhuasted and stressed out with all that is happening and all that still has to happen. I know this is going to be a wonderful change for me, but getting to that point is very, very difficult. This is such a good message for me to hear right now. THANK YOU!
